Turn Up the Volume with Our Juvéderm Fillers
- Posted on: Mar 15 2021
It’s easy to focus on issues such as sun damage or wrinkles when we think of facial aging. But the reality is it’s probably more of a problem with volume loss.
See for yourself. Find a few pictures of your parents when they were in their 20s and then their 50s. Unless they spent most of their time getting clobbered by UV rays poolside, the wrinkles probably aren’t what jump out. Instead, what you see are the hollow cheeks, the sagging skin, thinning lips, and other volume issues.
Between the ever-decreasing production of collagen (the skin’s structural support protein) and the ceaseless tug of gravity, it seems everything is going south. That’s why Dr. Lipton offers the Juvéderm® family of dermal fillers — to replace lost volume.
What is Juvéderm?
If you know the aesthetic world at all, you’ve probably heard of hyaluronic acid. It is a naturally occurring substance in the bodies of humans (and most other mammals) that is responsible for binding with water molecules under the skin to hydrate, plump, and firm the skin.
All the Juvéderm® fillers are hyaluronic acid based. For this reason, Juvéderm® is classified as a naturally derived filler, versus other “synthetic” fillers like Bellafill.
What do the different Juvéderm® fillers address?
- Juvéderm® XC
If you’re a writer and you need to make an aside, parentheses are great. But when they show up on your face framing the corners of your mouth, they’re totally unwelcome. Or what about your nasolabial lines running from your nose down to the corners of your mouth. Ugh. You hear about all sorts of “anti-aging” serums and creams, but they only moisturize the skin’s surface. Juvéderm® XC adds volume beneath the skin to smooth these lines and folds.
- Juvéderm® Voluma XC
While Dr. Lipton may call it “age-related midface volume loss;” you call it sagging cheeks. Over time as you lose the collagen to support your skin and as your underlying muscles weaken, your cheeks flatten. Juvéderm® Voluma XC is designed to add volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift and contour the cheek area. Plump cheeks are generally considered to be a tenet of a younger look.
- Juvéderm® Volbella XC
Volbella was added to the expanding Juvéderm® line in 2016. Whereas Juvéderm Ultra XC adds visible volume and plumps the lips, Volbella XC was created to add subtle volume to the lips and smooth the appearance of vertical lip lines.
- Juvéderm® Vollure XC
Vollure sounds like it duplicates the original Juvederm® XC, which adds volume to nasolabial folds, parentheses lines, and marionette lines. But Vollure is specifically formulated for moderate to deep creases and wrinkles in these areas. It adds more volume to address these deeper depressions. It was the latest addition to the Juvederm line, approved by the FDA in 2017.
How long does Juvéderm® last?
All four Juvéderm® formulations are long lasting. Plus, future injections usually need less product to achieve the same results.
- Juvéderm® XC treats the wrinkles and lines around your mouth for up to one year.
- Juvéderm® Voluma XC provides the longest-lasting hyaluronic acid filler results, restoring cheek volume for up to two years.
- Juvéderm® Volbella XC adds subtle volume for one year, with 80 percent of people treated reporting improved satisfaction with their lips one year after treatment.
- Juvéderm® Vollure XC is another one of the longer-lasting hyaluronic acid fillers on the market, returning volume for up to 18 months.
